Blogging is a great way to tell the world – or your social media followers and customers – more about yourself. Who are you? What makes you, you?
Are you a wine connoisseur? Do you travel the world in every spare moment available? Has quarantine transformed you from a heat and eat cook to a gourmet chef?
These little nuggets of information are perfect fodder for a regular, honest to goodness, blog. I like to think of it as a digital journal. And really, that’s exactly what it is.
But, beyond handwritten journal pages in a book that only you might read, your blog helps to give you definition, substance, and, most importantly, a personality.
As a business owner your blog lets you share personal things about yourself that you typically would not include in brochures, Website copy or other marketing materials. This illustrates to prospective customers that you are, in fact, a person just like them. And since people buy from people, a little personal touch goes a long way in building your business and client base.
Beyond sharing personal tidbits, you can also use your blog to market yourself as an authority in your respective industry. The tone – from fun to professional – will vary depending on your niche and your brand’s unique voice. Just be sure your posts are authentic. Followers can spy phoniness from a mile away.
