Before this year, Cinco de Mayo was nothing more than an excuse for me to eat Mexican food (as if I needed an excuse) on May 5. But, in 2016, the Mexican-themed day had a dual purpose: To recognize the businesses and service providers in Montgomery County who were voted the best in Montco Happening’s 2016 Happening List.
I was proud that my greater Philadelphia area-based business, Katalinas Communications, was among good company, having claimed the top spot in the Public Relations service category.
To celebrate, I joined hundreds of other winners, finalists and nominees in attending the digital magazine’s red carpet bash at the Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia. The bash was a way to celebrate the top vote-getters in Montco Happening’s annual People’s Choice competition. Voters choose the best Montgomery County, Pa. service providers, as well as people, events, places, beauty, wellness, dining, wedding and more.
During the Cinco de Mayo bash, area business movers and shakers received a certificate acknowledging the achievement, as well as several opportunities to mix, mingle and market themselves throughout the night – and beyond. Just outside of the Vault, where the DJ, dancing, dining and other festivities took center stage, the Montco Happening video team interviewed business owners about not only their awards, but also inquired about how their companies got started and what makes their business unique. I look forward to seeing the video segment and learning more about local businesses that I can help support.
Most gratifying for me was the fact that one of my very first clients nominated me for the prestigious award. Many other clients supported my business, ultimately helping me beat out three other Montgomery County-based public relations businesses.
It was quite an honor to have so many wonderful people backing my local business. I know I would not have been considered without such unwavering support and am forever grateful.
